Human beings are the most impatient creatures. We get irritated even if we have to wait just an extra 5 minutes in traffic, in a line, or on the phone. But, yet a dog can wait the whole day(sleeping, sniffing, chewing and sleeping again until the wonderful moment when his master returns. If his master is late, does the dog get angry and irritated? NO not at all, actually his reaction is the opposite! He gets MORE excited! The dog couldn't be more excited-weather he's late or not. The recipients of 2 Peter were struggling with impatience with Jesus' return. They had already experienced mockery from the unbelieving skeptics [2 Peter 3:3-4], causing them to loose heart even more. Peter reminds them that Gods not limited by time. And although it may seem like he's being slow, Gods actually just showing his merciful patience. He wants ALL people to experience the joy of having a relationship with him! Maybe we could learn a valuable life lesson from our furry friends. (No, I'm not suggesting that you go drink out of the toilet bowl and chew bones in your free time...) We should patiently trust God (our master) to return to earth at the perfect time.In the meantime we need to take every moment we've been given, and introduce others to our savior.
[1 Timothy 1:16] But I was given mercy so that in me, the worst of all sinners, Christ Jesus could show that he has patience without limit, lis patience with me made me an example for those who woiuld believe in him and have life forever. [2 Peter 3:9] Do not do wrong to repay a wrong and do not insult to repay an insult. But repay with a blessing because you your selves were called to do this so that you might recieve a blessing. |
[Hebrews 6:12] We do not want you to become lazy. Be like those who through faith and patience will recieve what God has promised. [Psalm 21:13-14] I truly believe I will live to see the Lords goodness. Wait for the Lords help. Be strong and brave, and wait for the Lords help. [Psalm 37:7] Wait and trust the Lord. Don't be upset when others get rich or someone elses plans suceed. [Romans 2:7] Some people, by always continuing to do good, live for Gods glory, for honour, and for life that has no end. God will give them life forever.
