A LOVE THAT’S TO DIE FOR what would you do if an armoften. Believers risk their lives everyday- some even die because of their faith. Stephen, the first martyr, boldly risked his life to stand up for Jesus. When some Jews accused him of speaking against God Stephen could have just said that he never said such things BUT instead he shared all that he knew about Jesus to the religious leaders-including the part where they murdered Jesus. Stephen knew this would make them angry-maybe even angry enough to make them kill him! But Stephen knew that he NEEDED to stand up for the truth. He was even willing to die for it! Even though you may never have to risk your life like Stephen did, your friends may desert you, unbelieving people may disrespect you, or you may not get hired for a job because of your beliefs. Religious Rights are a rare blessing...it could be taken away someday! Persecution comes in many forms but weather your life is on the line or just dealing with problems at school or at home-remember that the reward for faithfulness is more than worth any persecution! (Matthew 19:28-29). Today ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen your heart so that you can stand up for Jesus no matter when, where or what kind of persecution you’re dealing with. ed man walked into your church and started shooting anyone who renounces their belief in Jesus? You may never have to deal with that kind of persecution, but believe it or not, plenty of people deal with this problemMatthew 5:10-12 They are blessed those who are percecuted for doing good, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. People will insult you and hurt you. They will lie and say all kinds of evil things about you because you follow me. But when they do you will be blessed. Rejoice and be glad because you have a great reward waiting for you in heaven. People did the same evil things to the prophets who lived before you. 2 Corinthians 4:8-12 We all have troubles around us but we are NOT defeated. We don't know what to do but we don't give up hope of living. We are percecuted but not abandoned. We are hurt sometimes but we are not destroyed. We carry the death of Jesus in our own bodies so that the life of Jesus can be seen in our bodies. We are alive but for jesus we are always in danger of death so that the life of Jesus can be seen in our bodies that die.So death is working in us but life in working in you. |
